Did you ever wonder where the idea of getting together for a late-morning meal comes from? If you look it up, you’ll discover that this is a British tradition.

A late-morning Sunday breakfast with friends and family is a great opportunity to spend some time together and postpone the daily grind for a few hours.

Sunday brunch has become much more than a simple late breakfast, It’s an event, an outing, a tradition, a gathering that needs little preparation. It’s an opportunity to share some time with the people we love.

Although sharing a meal indoors can be an appealing notion, doing it outdoors is even more exciting. In a pavilion especially set up for the occasion, Sunday mornings may never be the same again! Feasting outside in the intimate setting of your pavilion is one of the more relaxing pleasures of life. Whether fully dressed or simply lounging in you pyjamas, there’s nothing like being in your own back yard.

A relaxing and soothing ambiance

Choose a neutral decorative ambiance for your pavilion, with a duo-tone colour scheme, zen-like and void of distractions. Comfort and relaxation above all. As such an event is usually held in the morning, keep in mind that your guests have just recently awakened, and avoid loud and bright decorative elements. Beige, blue and green are adequate colours. Accessories should be soft and unobtrusive, reminiscent of serene surroundings. Freshly-cut flowers, candles and fleece blankets are perfect: they inspire restfulness and relaxation. A coffee table, footrests and carpeting are practical and appropriate for a friendly brunch. People enjoy kneeling down and getting close to one another in calm and intimate settings. Soft or classical music will create a peaceful ambiance that your guests are sure to appreciate.

Brunches are a perfect opportunity to host your guests in an unpretentious setting. Some bubbly wine mixed with orange juice is a great way to kick off the day and is usually appreciated by all. It is a great highlight to a magical moment, a reminder that there’s no harm in spoiling yourself once in a while. Hot chocolate is also popular. It can be offered along with coffee, for those who prefer a traditional morning hot beverage, and it’s a refreshing change from the ordinary. Fresh fruit, croissants and pastries are easy to prepare, enjoyed by all, and are a feast for the senses in an outdoor setting. Sprinkle a little powdered sugar, and you’ve got a mouth-watering hit on your hands!

Those who prefer the more filling type of fare may appreciate a raclette meal, where each guest cooks his or her own favourite foods. This is also ideal because guests can all eat warm food at the same time while no one is left behind to tend the stove and clean up the kitchen. A distraction-free time where all can share in the moment and spend time together.

Eating outside is a great appetite stimulator. Especially when surrounded by nature, a reminder of the more essential things in life. Try picking a few laves from the surrounding trees and laying them out throughout the room for an original natural touch that your guests are sure to appreciate. Any other outdoor items that can be added to your décor will contribute to blending your pavilion with its natural environment, turning it into an inviting area. Use your imagination and let your creative juices flow.

A great opportunity to get together with people you don’t see often enough, a classy brunch in your pavilion will enhance the pleasure of lazy weekend mornings for all involved. Grandparents will be only too happy to spend time with you and the grandkids. Don’t be surprised if they want to hang out for the entire day! But then again, isn’t that what the good life is all about?

And there’s more!

The vocation of this type of pavilion can be extended to a number of different events : wedding anniversaries, baby showers, bachelor parties, baptisms, graduations, births… Any occasion is a good excuse to get together and celebrate the important events in our livers. What really matters is being with our loved ones for those unique moments that will last forever in our memories.
