In the world of interior decorating, anything is possible: all you need is a bit of daring and some creativity. In no time at all, you can create an elegant and warm décor to transform your pavilion into a reception room. It’s important to remain harmonious and to go with what suits you best. I’d like to make a few suggestions and share with you some of my tips and advice, which will provide you with guidelines to creating your own dream décor. Let the creative juices flow and have fun!
Because the pavilion is an enclosed space that protects you from the elements, many floor covering options are available. Ideally, the structure will be installed on paver stones or another concrete or rock-based surface.

True nature lovers may choose to install their pavilion directly on the lawn, on a bed of fine sand or stone dust. Anything is possible: it all depends on your needs and tastes.

Depending on the decor you have chosen for your pavilion, you’ll need to give some thought to window dressing. Some will choose to leave them as is, in order to let the light flow in or to maintain an unobstructed view of the yard. Others will install bamboo or wooden blinds to create an intimate atmosphere. For a nice effect and richer décor, installing curtains is a great idea: simply choose the appropriate ones according to your taste and needs.

Because you are striving for a harmonious décor, it is very important to coordinate both fabrics and colours depending on the ambiance you wish to create, as well as a few accents.

Pure white curtains add a touch of class, whereas beige gives the environment a peaceful feeling. Your choice of colours
will inevitably serve as a guideline for the desired atmosphere.

Curtains may be attached to the metal beams surrounding the pavilion’s windows, thus eliminating the need for screws and making them easier to unhook for maintenance. You can also use curtains that fit onto a metal curtain rod. Why not recycle some older rods that you may have used in the past, or even wooden ones!

Even if your room is located outdoors, don’t hesitate to

decorate your walls. Protection
from the elements opens up a world of possibilities. Symmetrically-arranged wall appliqués are perfectly appropriate and tend to blend well with this type of décor. Dig out those old frames and paintings from your closets. Be daring and reinvent them: take former living room artwork and give it a second life. A fine piece of art is always nice if it is matched with its complementary colours. It will add a touch of life that creates a link between the different decorative items that make up your pavilion. And why not add an elegant mirror? Not only will it make your space look larger and warmer, it is also a prime decorative element!

Your pavilion wouldn’t be complete without adding a few decorative elements. Strategically and symmetrically placed in a repetitive sequence, these items will ensure a harmonious ensemble look. The golden rule: striking the right balance for the eye. This applies to sizes, colours and quantities. Have fun trying to find THE ultimate colourful cushion that will bring the whole room together. Look for

sparkles, faux-fur and stripes. Anything that could add some pizzazz to the room!
Add a few soft and warm throw blankets for the chillier evenings. Some plants could also be welcome, as well as providing a bit of fresh oxygen. At all times, don’t hesitate to consult with a professional, who can help you just as he/she would for interior decoration. Don’t forget that accessories should be laid out using the « odd number » rule, but you can make exceptions if you believe the balance is right. Just don’t overdo it. It is best to bunch accessories together for a cleaner look.

Nothing creates a warmer and friendlier atmosphere than a warm and elaborate lighting arrangement assorted to your décor. To achieve this, it is necessary to consider bringing a power source into your pavilion. Turn to an electrician to install the necessary waterproof outdoor electrical outlet.

Chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and a few freestanding lamps will provide a cozy atmosphere and adequate lighting, which you’ll surely enjoy as the night grows darker.

Lighting can affect objects,

shapes and colours: it can highlight then or it can even hide them. Electrical lighting, daylight and candles create their own decors, transporting you to a whole new universe, both night and day!
